Chubb Australasia WA recognised by inaugural Worksafe Platinum Award

Chubb Australasia WA has been recognised for outstanding occupational safety and health management, solutions and innovation by WorkSafe WA. This is the first time a security or fire safety company in WA has been recognised with a Platinum Certificate, the highest honour granted by WorkSafe.

Brian Bradley, Director-General Department of Consumer and Employment Protection, presented the WorkSafe Plan Platinum Certificate of achievement to Mr Tony Chamberlain, President of Chubb Australasia on 29 March 2007 in Perth, WA.

WorkSafe is the Western Australian Government agency responsible for the administration of the Occupational Safety and Health Act 1984. Its principal objective is to promote and provide information to industry and the community to secure the safety and health of people in the workplace.

Mr Chamberlain said, “I am very proud to accept this award on behalf of our employees.  Chubb Australasia is a leader in the fire and security industry, and we take the health and safety of our employees extremely seriously. Over the last three years, we have reduced our Lost Time Injury rate in Chubb by more than 70%. In 2006 alone, we reduced our injury rate by 44%,” he said.

The Chubb Australasia team in WA began preparing for the WorkSafe audit in May 2006. Almost 1000 documents were compiled in advance of the three day audit by WorkSafe.

Norman Johnson, General Manager for Chubb’s Cash Logistics division, explained that every employee played a part in winning this award.  “We strive to make Chubb a safe place to work by training our employees on a regular basis on safe work practices and providing everyone with appropriate equipment to ensure workplace safety.  Chubb has invested significant amounts of money to ensure every single employee understands our safety policy and every manager feels responsible for ensuring employees go home safely every day.  We regularly measure our performance on health and safety to ensure that we continuously improve.”
